Introduction

Summary of CD-ROM Contents

The Global Development Finance CD-ROM contains data compiled from the World Bank Debtor Reporting System. Formerly known as World Debt Tables, the new name reflects an expanded scope and greater coverage of private financial flows. The data includes:

• Aggregate data for 16 country groups (from Volume I of the print version).
• External Debt and private flows data for 138 countries (from Volume II of the print version).
• Public and publicly guaranteed long-term debt, private non-guaranteed long-term debt, short-term debt, and International Monetary Fund credits.
• Privatization transactions from the World Bank Privatization Database.
• Footnotes to the data and a complete glossary of definitions, sources, and methods.
• Text on analysis of recent and prospective trends in external finance for developing countries from Volume I.
• The Win*STARS data retrieval system, version 4.2 for Windows for time series data.

Global Development Finance covers 211 time series on PPG, PNG, debt, grants, loans, interest payments, disbursements, interest forgiven, and commitments. Actual figures are available for 1970-1998, and projections are available for 1999-2007. Periodicity is annual.

Extractions can be made in a variety of formats, including: Excel XLS files, SAS files, MS Access MDB files, dBase DBF files, or straight ASCII files.

In addition to the data series described above, the CD-ROM also contains the complete text and tables of the print version of Global Development Finance.
