Voting Behavior in the Wisconsin State Legislature, 1965-1966 and 2003-2014
This study includes the final floor votes on bills and biographical and other background information for each legislator. It encompasses the Senates and Assemblies of Wisconsin Legislatures for 1965-1966, and 2003 to 2014. 1965-1966, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008, 2009-2010, and 2011-2012 data have the final floor votes on bills contested by at least five percent of voting legislators. However 2013-2014 data include the final floor votes on all bills. Past and future legislative sessions will be added to the DISC archive as they become available or can be placed in consistent formats. Work in progress includes the 1895, 1901, 1903, 1905, 1915, and 1967 Wisconsin Senates and the 1967, and 1969 Wisconsin Assemblies. UPDATE June 2012: The data and documentation for the 2011/2012 legislative session was added to the online data archive on May 17, 2012. The 2011/2012 data includes a new variable indicating whether legislators are affiliated with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). An additional appendix listing ALEC-inspired legislation from the 2011/2012 session is also available.

UPDATE October 2014: The data and documentation for the 2011/2012 legislative session was updated to the online data archive on October 30, 2014. Voting records for 15 bills in Assembly and 10 bills in Senate were added to the data file. Codebook file was updated accordingly. In addition, data and codebook for 2013/2014 legislative session was added to this series.
