Problems with ASCII version of the Epidemiologic Catchment Area Study public use data as released by ICPSR.A user has informed us that there are problems with the Institutionalized portion of the E.C.A. The Household segment of the survey matches the frequencies reported in the documentation but the non-household records have serious discrepencies both in the numbers of records reported and the coding and distribution of values within variables. ICPSR is looking into the problem, which may have been caused by the conversion of the original SAS data to raw ASCII format. L.G. 4/97 Last Updated: 12 April 2000
