Argentine Chamber of Deputies, 1904-1955: Roll Call Voting Records and Member Characteristics – July 17, 2018

The Data and Information Services Center (DISC) recently added the following research study to its online archive:

Argentine Chamber of Deputies, 1904-1955: roll call records and member characteristics (Peter Smith, Principal Investigator)

This study was initially deposited at the Data and Program Library Service (which later became DISC) in April of 1974 by Dr. Peter Smith, a history professor at the University of Wisconsin- Madison during that time. Since then, data files and documentation for the study have been available by request only.

As of July 2018, users are now able to access all study documentation (e.g. codebook, biographical and roll call data files) online; a free registration is required in order to download data files. The codebook is available in PDF format.

The biographical data file contains information on the deputy’s sex, marital status, year and place of birth and death, level of education, occupation, class origin, membership in organizations, and political career. The roll call file contains all the roll calls for every session of the Chamber of Deputies from 1904-1955. Datasets are available in raw ASCII, Stata, and SPSS file formats, with the corresponding command files and data dictionaries.
