Abstract: Data source for this CD is from the fourth count public use summary tapes of 1970 Census of Population and Housing. Its geographic areas include nation region, state, county, tract, MCD, and place. There are over 8,500 demographics and geographic identifiers exist for each geographic area. A full set of 1970 tract maps, along with mapping software are included. Use can select any geographic area and all pertinent variables to create a subset. Map boundaries can be export in Arc View Shape format or MapInfo MID/MIF format. A count description report will be created to document each subset. In order to protect confidentiality the 1970 data is sometimes suppressed by US Census Bureau. Data is suppressed if its universe does not meet certain pre-established thresholds. These thresholds are usually between 5 and 15. For example, if the white population in a geographic area is less than 15, the demographics for white population will be suppressed. Smaller geographic areas are more likely to have suppressed than larger. No data is suppressed at the state level.
