Comments: Geolytics Release 1.0. Ran setup from the CD-ROM and installed the program to C:\SF1Block directory on public-use PC. This program has built-in data reporting and exporting capabilities as well as thematically shaded, color-mapping capabilities. Users can extract data as dbf, ASCII, shape or mid/mif files and use them as input files for other programs e.g. statistical (SAS, SPSS), database (Access, Oracle), spreadsheet (Excel, 1-2-3), and mapping (Arc View, MapInfo). 9/06 Program is installed on Ketchup and Mustard. 7/09 Region 1 disk (DP7325) is bad. Used one of CDE copy (6026-6029) to install user interface to the new public-use PC. ISO images are good. Each disk has a copy of user interface which can read data off any of the four disks once the program is installed to the hard drive. However, there is no option to store the data on the hard drive. 2/2020 CensusCD interface was installed on a Wiondows 7 virtual machine via the new DISC public-use PCs.

Abstract: CensusCD 2000/Short Form Blocks contains all Short Form data on the block level, thus providing very detailed information about the population of the United States. It has demographic information at the block level for each of the 8+ Million blocks from the most recent US 2000 Census. The variables include race (and Hispanic designation), age of head of household, age of children, presence of older relatives, composition of the family, family size, rent vs. own, etc. The levels of geography are Nation, Region, Division, State, County, and Tract. User can view the data summed to any of these geogrphic level. The data are presented at the Block level. For example, you can look at the State of Pennsylvania, at the block level for Age of Head of Household or you could look at Montgomery County (PA) or even just one of the census tracts in Montgomery County.
