Abstract: This round of Euro-Barometer surveys measured public opinion on European Community discussions regarding a single topic, the Treaty of Maastricht. Only three questions were asked: whether the respondent had heard or read anything about the Maastricht meeting or about the signing of the Treaty, what he/she remembered about the themes of the meeting and its resultant agreements, and what opinion the respondent had concerning any positive or negative effects that the Treaty would have on the European Community and on his/her own country and personal life. Information was also gathered on political party preference, region of residence, size of locality, and the respondent's age, sex, and education.
