Abstract: The Statistical Abstract is the most popular source of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. This CD-ROM contains over 1,400 tables from over 250 different governmental, private and international organizations. This 1997 CD-ROM has 97 new tables on such subjects as mammography, overweight persons, schools with Internet access, college remedial work, hate crimes, weather disasters, per ownership, employer tenure, work disabilities, workplace drug testing, family net worth, family debt payments, minority-owned businesses, traffic fatalities, supply and use of various foods, several new housing tables, and international statistics for continuing education and tourism receipts. The Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01 included on this CD-ROM allows users to view, navigate, search and print on demand any of the pages from the book. Users can go to the spreadsheet files (Lotus or Excel format) via the linking buttons next to the tables. Some even have an Internet link to the agencies for the most current statistics. There are a number of tables which are subject to copyright restrictions. The restrictions are indicated in the source notes below each table.
