Abstract: The Mortgage Insurance Companies of America are a group of mortgage insurance companies that voluntarily compile and disclose data about the disposition of insurance on mortgage loans they issue during a calendar year. The data contains information such as sex, race national origin, loan amount, income, and property location. These mortgage insurance companies submit data in the same format as Loan Application Register (LAR) and Transmittal Sheet (TS) data submitted by financial institutions for the FFIEC HMDA reporting. The TS data provides information about eight mortgage insurance companies, including their name, address, company identification number, contact person name, contact phone number, agency code, parent name and tax identification number. The FFIEC Mortgage Insurance Companies of America (MICA) Raw Data Software System is a CD-ROM Windows application that makes available mortgage insurance information reported by mortgage insurance companies. This software is a read only system that allows the user to view, search, print, export data and generate reports using detailed selection criteria (i.e., Respondent ID, MSA, State, or County). The MICA Raw Data Software System contains the Transmittal Sheet(TS) records from eight mortgage companies in 1995. Each respondent must submit a TS with their LAR data being reported. Each TS has a respondent ID that consists of ten numbers and an Agency Code that consists of one number. To retrieve the correct respondent when performing a search, the Agency Code is defaulted to Agency Code (MICA) and cannot be changed. The MICA Raw Data Software System contains 1,376,868 LAR records for 1996. Each LAR record contains a respondent ID and Agency Code. Also included are the Edit Status Flag and seven Census Fields that are not reported with the data. The LAR records can be searched by Respondent ID, MSA, State, and County.
