Abstract: This survey was conducted between January 8 to January 17 in 1988 to assess the American Electorate and to provide a better understanding of voter decisions about candidates and issues. This study attempts to classify the basic values and orientations that affect the voters' political thinking. It provides information on individual voter's values and personal orientations which can help researchers in understanding voters' political preference and opinions on different candidates and issues. This unique voter classification scheme consists nine dimensions. Three of these dimensions are basic personal orientations while six are values. The sample size is 2109 national adults.
