Comments: Install Beyond 20/20 to D:\OECDSED80_97 by running setup.exe from the software directory on the CD-ROM. From the Start menu, select Programs, OECD data and then OECD Social Expenditure Database. When the Beyond 20/20 user interface is displayed, open the Find window and set the directory to F:\data. The database uses Beyond 20/20TM, a user-friendly WindowsTM-based software that allows the user to extract data and build customised tools for analysis such as graphs and tables. Technical documentation on the software and the statistics is included in AcrobatTM format. UW-Madison has a subscription to SourceOECD Statistics via the General Library System on campus. Documentation: Beyond 20/20 user's guide and manual are in pdf format and are stored in doc directory on the CD-ROM. User's guide and manual were printed and bound as a hard copy document.

Abstract: This CD includes reliable, up-to-date and internationally comparable statistics on public and mandatory private social expenditure at programme level. SOCX provides a unique tool for monitoring trends in aggregate social expenditure and analysing changes in its composition. It covers 28 OECD Countries for the period 1980-1997. Data are classified under 13 social policy areas: Old age cash benefits; Disability cash benefits; Occupational injury and disease; Sickness benefits; Services for elderly and disabled people; Survivors; Family cash benefits; Family services; Active labour market programmes; Unemployment; Public expenditure on health; Housing; Other contingencies. The countries covered include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.
