Abstract: These data come from the Covered Employment and Wages (ES-202) program of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The ES-202 program produces employment and wage data for all employees covered by Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE). These data are collected by each State under its UI laws and are provided to BLS by State employment security agencies. ES-202 employment counts are the basis for the annual benchmarking of the Current Employment Statistics (payroll) survey. UI-covered workers represent approximately 98 percent of wage and salary employees nationwide. The data on this CD are in DBF format and only contain county levels annual data on average employment and total wages. The 1987 SIC system is used to code the industries. For current data, please visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) web site.
