The dataset is ordered by the NLSY79 respondent's identification number (R0000100), and each child's data are included within his or her father's data record. To link the dataset with the main NLSY79, simply merge the data using the identification number, as the values are identical for individual respondents. Abstract: Male fertility data has been lacking in the NLSY 79. This dataset is created to address this area. The dataset is ordered by the NLSY79 respondent's identification number (R0000100), and each child's data are included within his or her father's data record. Currently these files are not searchable by the NLS DB Investigator software. To link Male Fertility variables to existing NLSY 79 data sets, simply merge the data (using SAS, SPSS, or Stata) by the identification number (e.g. variable R00001.00), as the values are identical for individual respondents.
