Abstract: The Early Childhood Program Participation surveys occurred in 1991, 1995, and 2001. This 2001 survey conducted interviews with the parents or guardians of children from birth through age 6 who were not yet enrolled in kindergarten. Information on the nonparental care arrangements and educational programs of preschool children, comprising care by relatives, care by persons to whom they were not related, and participation in day care centers and preschool programs including Head Start were collected.
