Abstract: This statewide survey was conducted as the seventh in an ongoing series of surveys which function as the "poll of record" for Wisconsin, examining a wide variety of topics of concern to state residents, including politics, but going beyond that to questions of how state residents view their lives, work, and families. This seventh survey was underwritten by private funds available to the University of Wisconsin Madison with support from the Capital Times (Madison) and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, who served as media co-sponsors. Interviews were conducted by a statewide random digit dial telephone survey of 507 state residents interviewed from March 4th to 12th. It has a margin of error of about plus or minus four percent. Topics included in this poll are attitudes to Iraq, Bush's standing on the brink of war, the possibility of war, state politics and the fiscal situation, gambling, Indian casinos, and politeness.
