Bibliographic Citation: Arthur Young tax research database individual whole panel files, 1979-1986.  [machine-readable data file] / University of Michigan. Number of Files Received: 9

Comments: Note that in 9/94 an updated version of the linked panel was received (covering years 1979-1988), and two new cross-section files (1987 and 1988). These files are all in SAS format, and include SAS files for years 1983-1986. For this reason, the raw ASCII files which are part of edition 1, version 1, should be retained as current. For more info, see CB-045-002-2-1 and CB-045-002-2-2, and CB-045-002-1-2. NOTE ALSO that there is no information that the 83-86 files that are part of the other editions/versions are IDENTICAL to this edition/version. We have no evidence that they are the same OR different.

Access Status: Access limited to UW-Madison campus

Documentation: Two volumes hard copy codebook shared with CB-045-002-1-2, CB-045-002-2-1, CB-045-002-2-2, and CB-045-002-2-3.

Abstract: The Tax Files which have been produced since 1960 consist of detailed information taken from actual tax returns. The public use versions of these sample files are purchased in an unidentifiable form, with names, Social Security Numbers (SSN), and other similar information omitted. The primary uses made of these files have been to simulate the administrative and revenue impact of tax law changes, as well as to provide general statistical tabulations relating to sources of income and taxes paid by individuals. These data consist of single-year files and a panel that consists of a subset of the single year files (note that not all single-year respondents are in the panel!).
