Some tables have links to Internet source and the spreadsheets. Visit Census Bureau Web site for the 2006 Statistical Abstract. Users can copy the spreadsheet files directly from this CD-ROM. The spreadsheet files are stored in \sprdshts directory by subjects. Within the folders, the spreadsheet files are named 04snnnn.xls, where nnnn is the equivalent Statistical Abstract table number with leading zeros. Most of these files contain either more years of data or more detail than those shown in the book or in Adobe Acrobat PDF files. Abstract: The Statistical Abstract is the most popular source of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. This 2004-2005 CD-ROM contains over 1,400 tables from over 250 different governmental, private and international organizations. It has 68 new tables on various subject areas. Their topics include Native Hawaiians, the largest public school districts, computer and internet use by children and adolescents, students who reported carrying weapons, private sector job gains and losses, asset ownership rates for households, science and engineering degree recipients, and transit ridership. In addition, a number of new tables have been added that contain data from the 2002 Economic Census. The Adobe Acrobat Reader included on this CD-ROM allows users to view, navigate, search and print on demand any of the pages from the book. Users can go to the spreadsheet files (Excel format) via the linking buttons next to the tables. Some even have an Internet link to the agencies for the most current statistics. There are a number of tables which are subject to copyright restrictions. The restrictions are indicated in the source notes below each table. The file names correspond to the table numbers in the Statistical Abstract.
