Abstract: The National Survey of College Graduates (NSCG) is a longitudinal survey, designed to provide data on the number and characteristics of experienced individuals with education and/or employment in science and engineering (S&E), or S&E-related fields in the United States. The 2003 NSCG provides a once in a decade opportunity to study the education and career paths of the nation's college-educated individuals and various characteristics of college-educated individuals in the workforce such as salaries, whether the college-educated population was working in their highest degree field of study, specific occupations, and a gender breakdown of the workforce. This survey is designed to complement the other surveys of scientists and engineers conducted by SRS in order to provide a comprehensive picture of the number and characteristics of individuals with education and/or employment in S&E or S&E-related fields in the United States. This combined system is known as SESTAT (Scientists and Engineers Statistical Data System). Data from the 2003 NSCG are used to update the 1993 NSCG findings. Information about labor force particpation, edcation experiences, and demographics is included in this surey. For more information about NSCG, please visit SESTAT.
