Abstract: The Perinatal Mortality Data Set is a combination of births, infant deaths, and fetal deaths that occur in the United States. The set is comprised of NCHS's Linked Birth/Infant Death Data Set along with numerator and denominator files. The numerator file contains statistical data from linked birth and infant death records. The denominator file is the NCHS natality file in a compressed format. Some of the variables included in the data set are race and age of mother and father, marital status of mother, medical risk factors, obstetric procedures, birthweight, gestational age, parity, prenatal care, method of delivery, abnormal conditions of the newborn, and congenital anomalies of the child.
