Abstract: The major purpose of the agriculture census is to provide data for every county. The agricultural censuses are the primary source of consistent, coordinated data about agriculture at the county level, on a nationwide basis. Through 1950, agricultural censuses, conducted along with the decennial censuses of population and housing, were enumerated in the spring with reference to production in the preceding years. The data include agricultural operations such as the growing of crops, the raising of livestock and poultry (and their products), and the production of other agricultural products.
