Abstract: These data were collected to analyze the organization, rhythm, direction, and volume of slave ship operations of the major Atlantic slave trading nation, Portugal. Angola was selected for detailed study because of the quality and quantity of its records and because of its prime importance within the Portuguese slave trading zone.
