Comments: These ASM data files are stored in 1992 Economic Census Report Series Disc 1J CD-Rom (item number C1-E92-EC1J-07-US1) issued in November 1997. They are in dBASE III+. They can be accessed using the Extract software on the CD-Rom. These dBASE III+ files can be opened with Microsoft Access 2007. They are stored in the \SURVEYS\ASM folder on the CD-Rom. Record layout files are in \DOCUMENT\ASM folder. SICKEY92 files in the \AUXIL directory and EC92MISC files \DOCUMENT\AUXIL directory should be used with these dBASE III+ files. Abstract: This time series contains statistics on establishments in 459 manufacturing industries covering the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes 2011 through 3999. Files ASM_I1A through ASM_I3 are establishment-based and include industry level data on the number of establishments, employment, payroll, value of shipments, value added, capital expenditures, and other statistics for the United States. They are classified by the 2-, 3-, and 4-digit SIC codes. Files ASM_A1 through ASM_A3 have state-level industry statistics with the 2-, 3-, and 4-digit SIC codes on the number of establishments, employment, payroll, value of shipments, value added, capital expenditures, and other statistics. ASM_P contains data on the value of product shipments by 4- and 5-digit product class codes.
