Abstract: Included in the data set are the respondent's opinions of general reporting of the news, specific news events unfairly reported, groups treated too sympathetically/critically, newspapers owning other types of communication media, one company owning newspapers in many cities, applying freedom of the press to radio and television, whether enough information is reported on local and state news/national and international news, bias of editorials, slanting of news, especially as concerns the Washington Administration, political views of newsmen, average time spent each day learning news, identifications of public officials. Each question was asked for each communications medium: newspapers, television, radio or weekly news magazines. Demographic data include political affinity, education, occupation of head of household, income, age, sex, race, city size, area of country, and state.
