Abstract: This data set consists of 5 different surveys taken at intervals of approximately 6 months. Each survey interviewed as many of the original sample as it was possible to locate, but no replacement was made for missing couples. Each survey repeated questions which fall into two general categories: current financial status and expectations. Under current financial status, the survey asked about the source of income, indebtedness, use of charge accounts, insurance coverage, recent major purchases and the reasons for them, and the regular purchase of alcoholic beverages. Questions about expectations dealt with preference for home location and type, likelihood of specific purchases, and future income. There are also the standard general demographic variables: age, sex, race, employment, education, and birthplace, with similar data for the parents.
