Abstract: This data file, known as the Voter Supplement File, is prepared each election year by the Census Bureau. All persons in civilian households in the United States comprise the universe for this data collection. Approximately 71,000 households were selected for the sample. Data are provided on the employment status, occupation, and industry of persons 14 years old and over. Demographic characteristics are also included as well as number and ages of children in the household. Supplemental statistics are shown in this particular survey on citizenship, voter registration, and voter participation in the 1982 Congressional elections. The data file has 169,324 records, one for each person sampled, and each record has a logical record length of 480 characters.
