Abstract: This nationwide exit survey was conducted at the polls on election day, November 4, 1986. Respondents were asked about their vote choices for state and national offices. They were also asked their views concerning the local and national economy, abortion, and arms control. The respondents were asked who they would like to see as the Democratic and Republican nominees for president in 1988. Other items included party affiliation, ideology, and evaluation of Reagan's job performance as well as a number of questions that varied depending on issues of interest in the respondent's state.

SAMPLE: Multistage stratified random sampling.

NOTE: This dataset has a weight variable that must be used in all analyses.
