Abstract: The focus of the study was on several dimensions of political participation both at the national and local levels. In addition, basic background information was obtained and respondents were asked to discuss recent important changes and problems within their communities, group relations within their communities, and to evaluate the local and national political systems. The data set contains information for 2,549 respondents, 7 cards of data for each respondent in the form of approximately 367 variables. The data were obtained in a national cross-section survey conducted in 1967 by the National Opinion Research Center. The total sample includes a supplement of approximately 1,000 respondents drawn from 64 randomly selected smaller communities. The total number of weighted respondents is 3,095.
