Abstract: These questions are similar to those used on the CBS News Generations Apart Survey, February, 1969 (DPLS data set 13-023), which was also conducted by Yankelovich. There are the usual demographic variables of age, sex, occupation, marital status, urban/campus location, race, own and parents' income category, and college major. Some questions dealt with expectations about college, values the respondents personally subscribe to (e.g., the work ethic), acceptance or rejection of particular mores, comparisons of own and parents' beliefs, and career plans and their determinants. Other questions dealt with more specific contemporary issues--the Vietnam bombing halt, 1968 presidential candidates, admiration or dislike for specific individuals, police behavior at the Chicago convention, civil disobedience, and draft resistance. One set of questions dealt with acceptance or rejection of specific aspects of technology. Some questions were of the agree/disagree variety, which should warn the researcher to be aware of response acquiescence bias.
