Abstract: The emphasis in the 1975 National Fertility Study was on causal analysis rather than on parameter estimations for the total population. The 1975 survey is a longitudinal study involving reinterviews with women initially interviewed in the 1970 survey enabling an examination of changes in contraceptive practice at the individual level. Detailed data are available on contraceptive efficacy, fecundability, work history, family planning intentions, sterilization; opinions on abortion, current population problems; attitudes on individual efficacy; and detailed background information on self and spouse (age, birth, education, religion and religiosity, ethnicity, occupation, family income, financial conditions). The data file includes more than 860 variables.
