Abstract: These data were derived as an effort to perform comparative analysis of occupational hierarchies in complex societies in order to develop a cross-nationally valid occupational prestige scale that can be used as a standard measure of occupational status in future comparative research. The data file contains occupational prestige scores derived from evaluations of the prestige of occupations drawn from sample surveys and from data on occupational skills and wealth levels drawn from census records and other sources.
