Abstract: The Basic Data file contains information on the sex, race, religion, age, month of incident, type of abuse, identity of perpetrator(s) and his/her sex, age, race, religion, level of education and number of times abuse committed by perpetrator(s) on child. The Comprehensive Data file contains detailed information on the perpetrator(s) and members of child's and perpetrator's home, involvement of outside agencies and judicial authorities, and information included in the Basic Data file. Some of the more detailed information included in the Comprehensive file includes type of abuse, whether treatment was received, time lapse between abuse and help received, response by authorities to abuse, mental, social, and physical states of the perpetrator(s) and their characteristics: race, age, marital status, level of education, employment status, occupation, physical or intellectual status, number of adults in the family and their incomes, and other children in family where child abused.
