Abstract: The dictionary of occupations consists of alphabetical occupational designations and their numerical code equivalents. The variables include occupational identification, alphabetic occupation, consolidated occupation, vertical code, sector of the economy, industry code, stages of the job cycle, function code, and worksite. Meanings and codes for these variables are provided in the article, “Occupational Classification”, Historical Methods Newsletter (March-June, 1976), 59-77. A copy of this article is included in the codebook.
