Abstract: These 31 datasets are part of an ongoing data collection effort in which CBS News and the New York Times are equal partners. Interviews were conducted with respondents as they left their polling places on Election Day, November, 1982. These data and accompanying documentation are distributed by ICPSR in the form as received from the principal investigators. The datasets are in card-image format with a logical record length of 80 characters. The 31 datasets consist of 27 state and 4 regional files. The 4 regional datasets, taken together, make up the national poll. The number of cases in the regional datasets ranges from 1,481 to 2,215, the number of cases in the state files ranges from 652 to 3,066.
