Abstract: The Survey of recent science and engineering graduates, 1980 was designed to obtain information on the occupational and educational status of graduates who received a bachelor's or master's degree during the 1977/78 and 1978/79 academic years. Data include: number of new entrants into various science and engineering fields, general demographic characteristics of new entrants, types of employers, primary work activities, median salaries earned, geographical distribution of new entrants. The survey used two-stage sample design. The first stage of selection was a sample of colleges and universities offering a bachelor's or master's degree in any of the designated fields of science. The second stage involved graduates who received their degrees during the two specified academic years.
