Abstract: The Department of Rural Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison conducted this survey of Chippewa County residents in 1976. The research project focused on the community's attitudes toward political participation and related matters. In May 1976, a self-administered questionnaire was given to 300 Chippewa Falls high school students. The questionnaire asked the students about their future educational, occupational, and income plans. It also asked about the sorts of political influence they would like to have in the future. In addition, parents of the school children were asked questions such as their education, occupation, and political participation. Also, they were asked how they feel about some of the plans their child has for the future. Both parents were asked to fill out the questionnaire because the conductors of the survey were interested in finding out how family activities affect children's plans for the future.
