Abstract: This data collection represents part of a longitudinal study of the nature of retirement and of the transition to a retirement lifestyle. Data on the retirees or their surviving spouses include: level of educational attainment, present health condition, current employment status, work history, industry and occupational classification, wages, retirement plans, attitudes toward retirement, pension benefits, insurance coverage, contacts with relatives, living expenses, assets, debts, income, and basic demographic information. The data are contained in one file. This file includes 7,993 cases representing interviews with 7,079 original panel members and 914 with the original respondents' surviving spouses. The logical record length is 3,756 characters and there are 1193 variables. Both OSIRIS and card image formats are available.
