Abstract: The data set contains questions relating to the respondent's opinion on current problems facing Italy and the nature of each problem, the danger of another world war, the position Italy should take with regard to the United States and Russia, the economic situation in the last three years and the responsibility for the economic situation, the economic problems facing people of the respondent's social class, most popular political personality, most effective advertising medium to use during an electoral campaign, independence of Socialists vis-a-vis Communists, whether respondent voted in the elections of 1953, if not, why, intention to vote in next elections and party preference; demographic characteristics include region, size of commune, age, sex, marital status, occupation, and social class.
