Comments: Files are in dBASE III format. Type GO at D:\ to call up a data retrieval program. In GO users can output files in 4 different formats: flat ASCII, delimited ASCII, spreadsheet and dBASE. A BASIC program is provided to convert dBASE files to ASCII ones. 11/05 Run GO in Commond Prompt available in Windows XP. Use CopyFile to output a subset. Remember to provide the path for the output file, e.g. C:\temp\test.dat. It will also create a codebook file to document the subset.

Abstract: Summary tape file 3C contains summaries for the entire United States. The collection provides sample data weighted to represent the total population and also contains 100-percent counts and unweighted sample counts for total persons and total housing units. Additional population and housing variables include age, ancestry, disability, citizenship, education, income, marital status, race, sex, travel time to work, rent, tenure, value of housing unit, number of vehicles, and monthly owner costs. The collection provides 178 population tables and 99 housing tables. The geographic hierarchy includes the following levels: United States, region, division, state, county, connate subdivision, place with 10,000 or more persons, consolidated city, Alaska Native Regional Corporation, and Metropolitan Statistical Area. (NOTE: The STF 3C CD-ROM DPLS owns does not cover urbanized areas and their components.)
