Abstract: The data were collected as part of annual evaluations of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program. This program began in the fall of 1990. It was designed to provide opportunities for poor students in Milwaukee to attend private, nonsectarian schools. In lieu of tuition, the State of Wisconsin paid the private schools what the Millwork Public Schools (MPS) would have received in state aid for each student. The program is the first in the United States to provide major subsidies to private schools as part of a general voucher program. The dara are complex because they came from multiple sources, collected at different times of year and they cover multiple years. Three different types of data were collected for this project. 1) Survey data contains demographic and attitudinal survey data from MPS control group students, choice students and attrited choice students. 2) Student enrollment data for both choice students and MPS control students were extracted from Student Record Database. 3) Students' test data from IOWA test of basic skills-reading and math scores are included.
